Preview: Night Shift @ Queen Elizabeth Hall

If you still think classical music is stuffy, expensive and uninteresting, try Night Shift on Wednesday at Queen Elizabeth Hall for informal, "No-Rules" classical music.

The fabulous Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, who play on period instruments for that authentic sound, are supersizing their ranks to 80 players to give punters the full force of a symphony orchestra in the intimate QEH setting. The hour long, proms style concert with standing room features pieces by Mahler and Liszt with live jazz and cabaret to warm you up in the bar beforehand and a DJ set to help you chill out after.

Night Shift is on Wednesday 19 January at Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre. Tickets are just £8 in advance (£4 students). Concert at 9.45pm. Bar open till midnight.
