Music Choice: 24-30 January

It's a mostly rock-centric week, so if you're looking for a nice, quiet evening out, keep looking. If you've got some energy to jump out of your system, we can make a few recommendations.

Tonight, the Tenbrous Liar is celebrating the release of their new album Run Run Run with a free show at the Social. Richard Warren is also playing, and Steve Gullick is providing photographs inspired by his band's music.

Tuesday, New York indie rockers the Walkmen are at Shepherds Bush Academy. Support comes from the Head and the Heart.

Wednesday, post-punk legends Gang of Four are at Rough Trade East for a free show to support their first album of new material since 1995. Visit Rough Trade for more info on how to get a wristband for the show.

Thursday, Latvian techno trio Beat Milk Jugs are at Dublin Castle ahead of the release of their debut full length. The deceptively named Egyptian Hip Hop are at Bush Hall.

Friday, London rock band Ideals are at Barfly as part of their latest tour.

Saturday, Welsh neo-grunge trio the Joy Formidable are playing the Borderline.
