Bin A Long Time For Bin Collections

A combination of bank holidays, industrial action and bad weather has left many London residents with a bit of a rubbish problem. A stockpile of rubbish, to be precise.

In some areas, bins haven’t been emptied for up to four weeks which, no matter how much recycling one tries to do, would test the limits of most households to come up with creative ways of disposing of their waste. Having been on the receiving end of some bizarrely selective collections over the last few weeks, we have a collection of empties outside our houses which would easily accompany a rousing chorus of ‘100 green bottles, standing on the wall’.

It’s also worth remembering that collection days have changed – check your local authority website to avoid missing the rounds if and when they happen.

In other rubbish news, it seems that the bins can be an unexpected goldmine of pre-celebrity gossip, or at least as far as Amy Winehouse was concerned last month.

When were your bins last collected? Tell us in the comments.
