Preview: Peter And The Wolf @ Southbank Centre

Peter and The Wolf is returning later this month to the Southbank Centre as part of its Christmas season.

Ahead of his first official gigs next year as mouthpiece of the newly reformed Pulp, Sheffield's finest indie export Jarvis Cocker will steal some limelight of his own by following in the footsteps of other uncommon people like David Bowie and Sean Connery by narrating Sergei Prokofiev's masterpiece. Cocker will be hoping to bring a different class to this children's classic which combines an animated film with a live orchestra and poetry from Simon Armitage specifically-commissioned for this show. If that isn't enough, the Southbank Centre will be running free family workships before each performance with animateur Luke Crooks and musicians from the orchestra.

There are only four performances across two days (29 and 30 December) so get yourself sorted for tickets online or whizz down to the Southbank Centre's own box office as we suspect this may well sell out.
