A free exhibition telling the story of the Broadwater Estate over its 40+ years existence is on display at the estate Community Centre until Sunday.

In 1985 Broadwater Farm experienced one of the worst nights of civil unrest anywhere on mainland Britain. The death of PC Blakelock has continued to haunt the news with a new investigation and arrest in February this year. The riots shocked the nation and nearly destroyed the community. However, today Broadwater Farm is seen as a and a model of social housing and a laboratory of social policy. It's an incredible story.

Heroes and Homemakers explores the heroic achievements of a community who fought against all the odds. We highly recommend you visit this week. While you're there, take a walk round Lordship Rec.

The Broadwater Farm exhibition runs until Sunday 7 November. It is open everyday, 10am-5pm at the Broadwater Farm Community Centre, Adams Road, Tottenham N17 6HE.

Musical history! Listen to Broadwater Farm by Junior Delgado, after the jump.
