We're grinning like tomfools this morning after successfully co-hosting an attempt to gain the first Super Swarm badge in the Kingdom. Our mission, spurred on by chief organiser Chris Pearson, was to attract at least 250 Foursquare users to Jewel bar in Piccadilly, all of whom had to check in to the app within a three hour window. And, cor blimey, we did it. In fact, we blew our target out of the water, hitting the magic number at just over the hour mark, and mustering around 325 people in total. Thanks to everyone who came along and helped secure this footnote in the venerable annals of geoaware mobile app history.Special thanks go to Chris Pearson (@cpchannel) for getting the whole thing going and our colleagues at @LDN. Thanks are also due to several people who helped spread the word in advance and ensured things ran smoothly on the night: Rebecca Williams (@unicornRW), Rhea O'Conner (@Rheaj), Dan Moon (@Danwtmoon) and Bernie Mitchell (@Berniejmitchell). And a shout out to Richard Gregory (@Richgregory) who travelled down from Birmingham especially. We must also thank Jewel bar for hospitality and free drinks, and Kodak who also supported the event. Photos here. We'll now be petitioning Foursquare to create a Megaswarm badge.Follow Londonist on Foursquare to get our tips for the best cafes, bars, restaurants and other venues in London.
