Preview: Kings Place Festival 2010

Kings Place introduces its new season with 4 days of affordable arts festivity this weekend.

  • Catch comedy sets by Tom Basden, Jenny Eclair and Rob Deering.
  • Music spans the Monster Ceilidh Band, a bohemian piano trio, the Junk Band with Rubbish Music and plenty more jazz, classical, contemporary, folk and blues to sample.
  • As listed in the Book Grocer there's plenty of spoken words to hear with Poet in the City looking at maps and bodies, London Liming and storytelling plus Spoken Word meets Comedy on Thursday night featuring Tim Clare and Francesca Martinez.
  • You can also meet Alan Rusbridger on home ground in the 'Meet the Journalist' series.
  • Comb the listings for much more but if you can't be bothered, just rock up to Kings Place to look around and while away some time in the art and sculpture galleries and at Battlebridge Basin peruse the Rotunda Food Market and refuel, Friday- Sunday 11am-7pm.

Kings Place Festival runs 9-12 September at 90 York Way, N1 9AG. Tickets £4.50 or free. Check website for full listings and tickets.
