Disgruntled that your mates are buggering off to the Big Chill this weekend? Get a dose of festival spirit closer to home without breaking the bank or having to camp with the launch of independent free festival, Little London Fields.

It's not yet clear how three stages of live indie music will successfully coexist for the day on family friendly London Fields but they will be set up amidst an art village, disco dance den and local food market. Should you prefer the sound of your own voice murdering some classic pop numbers, celebrity graveyard karaoke is for you.

London's "biggest little free festival" aims to celebrate the creativity of the community, so let's hope it's not only the Hackney hipsters who populate this bijou event.

While you're there, it would a shame not to take a dip in the Lido.

Little London Fields is on Saturday 7th August, 11.30am-9pm on London Fields, E8.
