It's too darn hot. That much we know. We've been tirelessly reviewing London's lidos this summer for you, but we can't always find the time to splash out. And air con at Londonist Towers is a long way off. Thinking cool thoughts isn't working any more and we are starting to think that four ice creams a day may not be entirely good for us - and so we are looking for something more radical. Where do you go to keep cool?

Blackheath is always blustery, and the depths of Epping Forest offer welcome shelter. Around town - well you can always skulk near the chiller cabinets of your local supermarket (why are Sainsburys' refrigerated aisles always colder than those of the other guys?). Or visit the gym (without doing any exercise of course) - the AC at most sports centres is enough to induce goosebumps in even the most febrile. Church is always a good option too, especially if you've got one with a crypt.

What are your handy hints? Know anywhere where the sun really doesn't shine? Tell us about your favourite cool spots in the comments below.
