Dean NicholasCycle Hire Scheme: What's In The Pack? The contents of the pack in all their gloryThe envelope was a bit mangled in one corner... we'll put that down to the ministrations of Royal Mail, not TfL. The bottom right of the envelope has the Cycle Hire roundel, so you won't mistake it for your Barclaycard billA holder for up to four keys; yeah, took us a while to work it out too. Pretty pointless really -- the adhesive area isn't strong enough to hold the plastic keyThe back of the membership keyThe membership key; each one has a one-off charge of £3, and you can have up to four per account, though as one commenter notes, that does mean you'll have to pay £3 + the access charge (up to £45 for a year's worth) for each key
The fold-out guide includes a map of all the docking stations, something that's currently missing from the online version; however, with a substantial number of stations yet to get planning permission, the paper map is likely to have errors
After a short delay caused by the well-known payment problems that affected early registrants for Barclays Cycle Hire, a welcome pack and membership access key dropped through our letterbox on Tuesday. Click through the pics above to see what's included.
The bikes will be available from Friday, 30th July for those who register in advance; casual users will have to wait about another month before they can use them.
