Dandy In The Underworld To Continue

061810HorsleyShowGoesOn.jpg After the death of Soho dandy Sebastian Horsley was announced, we pondered what would happen to the production currently at Soho Theatre based on his memoir Dandy In The UnderWorld. Last night's performance was cancelled but the show, in true theatre spirit, will go on and the run will continue to "in his memory." The same spirit applied to Avenue Q after the death of actor Gary Coleman: the puppet-led musical features a character called Gary Coleman, based on the child actor who is gently lampooned throughout the show. When Coleman died of a brain haemorrhage at the end of May, Avenue Q writer Jeff Whitty decided not to drop or change the Coleman character but to continue with only minor changes in the script. It remains a tribute to Coleman, as will Dandy In The Underworld to Sebastian Horsley.
