Curry Capital Of UK Goes To...

BromleyCurry.jpg ... not Birmingham, not Brick Lane but Bromley in south east London.

Cobra Beer's survey was obviously carried out with rigorous scientific metrics and measurements, revealing that there are over 9,000 curry houses in the UK and there is one curry house per 835 residents in Bromley, beating the nicely named 'balti belt' in Birmingham.

The survey was carried out to celebrate 200 years of curry houses in the UK, the first being the Hindoostane Coffee House opened in 1810; the survey also promotes the notion that a happy town is a town with a good curry house. We can't agree more and have applied ourselves to similar rigorous testing, on your behalf, to find some good ones in London, just beyond Zone 1 where you might think locals would be bereft. And how to turn your own house into a curry house should you want to have a go yourself.

Congratulations Bromley! We'll have the peshwari naan and extra saag aloo to mark the findings. Image by Chris Osburn
