Bikers Turn To Courts Over £1 Parking Fee

motorbike demo.jpg Campaigners from the No To Bike Parking Tax group are planning a High Court challenge to Westminster's £1 fee for motorcycle parking in central London, citing improper revenue generation. After apparently being threatened with loss of bus lane use by Boris Johnson during a protest earlier this month, the two-wheeled protesters retreated to the M25 where they spent a couple of happy hours doing a lap of the motorway while police helpfully kept the car drivers at bay. Westminster City Council argue that the demand for parking in Central London justifies a charge, while bikers say promises of secure parking have been broken and Westminster have imposed a scheme which isn't revenue-neutral.
