Preview: Grand Vintage Ball and Vintage Attire Pageant

grandvintageball-sml.jpg London is currently buzzing with glamorous shindigs promising to whisk you back to more decadent times, but UMI+Co's Grand Vintage Ball and Vintage Attire Pageant has lured us in with its promise to entertain lovers of all vintage and retro eras this Saturday.

Brockley's sumptuous Rivoli ballroom will be your own personal time capsule as you're propelled from the 1920s with Gypsy-Jazz-Punk through the Rock 'n' Roll era and headlong into the '80s with New Romantic Pop. On hand to spice up your evening will be the vintastic Brockley Ukulele Group, the Shore Leave Crew, Jonny Demonique's infamous tattoo shack and Miss Amy Gwatkin's legendary photo booth.

With a dress code that's strictly mothball chic, this event is the perfect opportunity for vintage enthusiasts to don their best threads and showcase their vintage dance moves - we're seduced by the idea of donning a "fetish Poirot" outfit, but are also super keen to aim for one of the major fashion prizes of the evening: the Margot Leadbetter Award for lifetime services to synthetic fabrics. Those looking to unleash your inner "love sick sailor", "couture pimp" or "Dictator's wife/champagne socialist" will also be more than welcome!
