The weather's giving us no cause to strip off just yet, but hopefully some of these dating events will. We've found some of the city's more novel activities to make sure you work up a sweat even if you don't get lucky.

Pumped full of 50's Americana, the beautiful Bloomsbury Lanes plays host to a dating extravaganza on Saturday 3rd July, where hopefully you'll get bowled over in more ways than one. We were hoping to recommend some kinky kayaking on the Thames with Adventura, although it appears the company has gone into liquidation from the ash-cloud fallout - those who have booked already may be left high and dry. You could be Up the Creek in a different way though (and even get some proper jokes), as Comedy Speed Dating returns to Greenwich on 2nd June.

Alternatively, if you prefer a different pace of life, you can mingle and meander with Click Singles this Sunday on one of their city walks - if you see anyone running, we assume it's not going that well. Slow dating in Covent Garden steps it down even further, with the usual speed dating format reformulated to give you more time to chat, plus a bit extra for all the paperwork. Apparently a percentage of the ticket price goes to Breast Cancer Care, but hopefully you won't feel like a tit. Places are available for 24-36 year olds on 1st June at Traffic Bar, Holborn, and 30-39 year olds on 27th May at Verve, Covent Garden.

If all this talk has whetted your appetite (and you’re 35-49 with £40 burning a hole in your pocket) there's a Moroccan Lunch on offer., whilst those who are ravenous for ravishing might want to head to Plus Size speed dating this Saturday (£10)

If you'd rather your brain took the strain though, then head to Quiz Dating on Wednesday June 23rd at Amuse Bouche, Poland Street (mid-twenties to mid-thirties, £16). Scholarly pursuits are on offer from Speed Dater who promise to train London's lonely gents to bag a girlfriend by summer for £10 tomorrow, whilst if your threads and your theories are already smart, head to The Book Club on 24th of May or 28th of June at 7pm for another dose of speed dating (£10 - email Jolene to secure a place).
