Lebedev Mulls Giving Londoners Free Independent

papers_170510.jpg We lost two free papers and gained another two (although some of us are yet to spot a London Weekly in the wild) - could London be getting another? Reports suggest new Independent (and Evening Standard) owner Evgeny Lebedev may consider making the Indy free within the M25 and make use of 'synergies' (i.e. cut costs) between the broadsheet and the Standard. Mind you, there are conflicting stories even within the same outlet (which includes an interesting snippet that the Standard spent its three-year £15m budget in half that time), so all we can really be sure of is that Lebedev is keeping his options open - for now.
