Preview: Flight of the Conchords @ Hammersmith Apollo
Band meeting! Flight of the Conchords, formerly New Zealand's fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo, will be headlining a considerably larger venue than usual when they visit the Hammersmith Apollo for two nights in May.
Playing a range of hits from their back catalogue, including the classic
A Kiss Is Not a Contract,
Robots (featuring, we hope, the duo's trademark silver cardboard suits) and, of course,
Business Time, you can expect a lovable mix of comedy and heartfelt songs from Bret and Jemaine. Or Hiphopopotamus and Rhymenoceros, as they may prefer to be called. If you're not familiar with the Conchords' work, book tickets anyway, then get hold of the DVD box set and watch it between now and May. With a Perrier nomination under their belts, a lovable yet clearly deluded manager and at least one completely crazed fan, these gigs should certainly be nights to remember - New Zealand style.Flight of the Conchords play the Hammersmith Apollo on 16 and 17 May. Tickets go on general sale tomorrow at 9am -
