Passengers on a 73 bendy bus were evacuated earlier this afternoon after a man on board brandished what was thought to be a gun. The bus was brought to a stop near Victoria station at around 1pm and parts of Terminus place were closed off as firearms officers arrested the man, who onlookers suspected of being drunk. No-one was hurt during the incident and the station quickly returned to normal, although this is perhaps unsurprising as, judging by the heavy use of inverted commas in reports, it's more likely that the man was merely waving a can of strong cider in angry protest at Alistair Darling's recent budget announcement than an actual weapon.
