Greening Angel

flowerbee160310.jpg Angel junction is not the loveliest of places in London / Britain / the world, but Islington Council are making an attempt to not only pretty it up but also attract wildlife. Those newsstands and kiosks outside the station are to get 'green roofs' as part of the borough's biodiversity plans. The hope is that birds and insects will be attracted to these little oases in the middle of the roaring traffic and stop off a while. Plus, they'll look nice. There's also the ever-welcome opportunity for puns: the Islington Gazette has - perhaps inevitably - already dubbed them 'buzz stops' (groan). (Image / Simon Crubellier)
