Lit Preview: Women in History - A Force To Be Reckoned With

pirate_queen.jpg Who's your favourite woman from history? It shouldn't take long to pick one - compared with the men it's all queens, nurses and the occasional token scientist. Join writers Susan Ronald (author of The Pirate Queen, about Elizabeth I), Carol Dyhouse (whose book, On Glamour, looks at women's relationship with fashion) and David Waller (who uncovered an unknown - and brilliant - socialite for The Magnificent Mrs Tennant) to discuss famous and lesser known women from the past at the Arts Bar of the Phoenix Theatre on Wednesday. It starts at 7pm; tickets cost £3 but also get you a glass of wine. If you fancy getting in for free, we've got two pairs to give away. First to email richardforeman.chalke [at] hotmail.co.uk nabs 'em...
