Santa's Lap: London Wallpaper

lizzieallen.jpg Every day until Christmas the Londonist team will be pointing you in the direction of a Christmas present that (with a bit of luck) you won't already have on your list. Climb up onto our collective lap and we'll see what we can move from our sack to your stockings...

If stickers aren't quite your thing but you still fancy something Londony on your walls, we'd like to point you in the direction of Lizzie Allen's wallpaper. Her hand screen-printed creations are all bespoke (so you'll need to contact her for prices), using paper from managed forests and hand-mixed dyes. And the designs! They're just gorgeous.

"London City Gents" features 50s-style businessmen waiting for their trains or dashing about beneath an umbrella (one chap has a 2p coin for a jacket button). There are a couple of versions of the Royal Guards, cabs and buses, and even full sized telephone boxes (available in red - and gold!). But our favourite has to be this exquisite design of St Paul's, such beautifully stylised characters in a damask frame. We kind of wish we could also buy this as a print...
