Cloud Dance Festival formed in 2007 to provide performance space for handpicked new contemporary dance talent. They present showcases three times a year, aiming to stage a variety of pieces which are provocative, humorous, contemplative and insightful.
On 5 and 6 December, they're running the first annual "Best of Cloud Dance Festival" specials, Parade, at the People Show Studios. Three mixed bills over the weekend see festival favourites Dam Van Huynh, Lila Dance, Pair Dance, Sol Dans, Hagit Yakira, Nexus Dance and Diciembre Dance Group plus New Adventures star Sophia Hurdley doing Maria Callas. Slanjayvah Danza, J.H.L Dance Company and Leaf Dance make their Cloud debuts and cross our radar for the first time. You can check out the full line up here. A last minute addition to the programme is the fantastic Ballet Black, high on their recent nomination for the Critics' Circle Outstanding Company award.
Cloud Dance Festival is entirely funded by box office sales so its incredible they can put on these diverse mixed bills at all.
