From now until 7 October, Selfridges is running a food promotion entitled Tastes of Singapore in their foodhall. Twelve Singaporean brands, some rarely seen in London, have been stocked during the week with many opportunities to sample the products. Yeo's drinks, Bengawan Solo biscuits (Londonist has a soft spot for these), Prima Taste premixes, Chng Kee's pastes and sauces, Singapore Slings in a bottle and more are all on offer. Cooking demonstrations will also be given with a full schedule posted on their website. In addition, Selfridge's Gallery restaurant is offering a Singapore-inspired set menu from now until 9 October.

Singaporean in London

Was there this afternoon but left a tad disappointed. Though I expect prices to be marked up a bit but some are really ridiculously - Prima Taste packs are almost twice the price compared to those stocked at Leicester Square.

Also, the person doing Singapore Laksa and Beef Rendang cooking demo that we saw was more of a promoter than a cook.

That aside, the staff have been really helpful and I carted away a couple of bottles of Ta Hwa soy sauce. It'll probably be good distraction if you are in the vicinity but I'm not sure whether you would want to make a special trip down to Oxford Street for that.
