London For London: Have Fun, Do Good

Roll up roll up! Tonight, for one night only, ladies and jellyspoons, you get to go out and have fun with a clear conscience. Hundreds of venues all over the capital, be they club, bar, dive, pub, room, rave or rink, are participating in a scheme wherein punters are all *invited* to contribute £1 per head towards three of London's most outstanding children's charities: Kids Company, Capital Radio's Help a London Child, and the Metropolitan Volunteer Police cadets. London for London is the rather clever brainchild of two young Londoners: it is such a logical thing to do that one wonders why no-one thought of it before.

So there's no excuse to stay in. Get out there an enjoy yourself in the name of philanthropy. Or something. Here's the full list of participating venues, or you can follow developments on Twitter.

Of course we will stress that there is a difference between a clear conscience and a clear head, and if you go out and get absolutely shit-faced, you do it on your own terms.
