Architect To Sue Over Chelsea Barracks

With a second Stirling prize under their belt, the firm of Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners have taken the initial steps to suing developer Qatari Diar over the latter's abandoning of the Chelsea Barracks project. Lord Rogers' firm are claiming £1.5 million in unpaid fees for the two-and-a-half years they spent bent over the draughtsmans table for the billion-pound development, which was junked after a controversial intervention from Prince Charles earlier in the year. A shortlist of ten architects are now in the running for a commission that will be under an enormous amount of scrutiny.
