Shooting Reported In Southwark

A police officer is thought to have been shot in the thigh during an incident in Southwark. Reports vary, but it seems a gunman opened fire on police officers whilst riding past them on a bicycle near Southwark station. He then ran off in the direction of the Young Vic on The Cut. The Tube station is closed, and Blackfriars Road is cordoned off between Southwark Street and St George's Circus. SE1 has some pictures and up to the minute Tweets.

Just outside my old office as well. We moved up the road to Blackfriars in April.

All this is getting a little too close for comfort.

The report says one cop was treated for gunshot wounds, while the other was treated for shock. At the risk of seeming insensitive, shouldn't police officers, of all people, be trained to be able to handle scenes liable to shock, like weapons incidents, without having to have treatment?
