Jermain Defoe Accuses Police Of Harassment

2509_football.jpg Being pulled over once for no reason is a mistake, but when it happens a second time, a man could be forgiven for being paranoid. Weeks after he was briefly banged up following an error by Harlow police over a driving conviction, Jermain Defoe has again been stopped and searched by police. He was driving his Ferrari through Essex on Sunday night, when police pulled him over in what they claim was a routine operation investigating stolen luxury cars. Defoe thinks the cops fell into the old habit of seeing a black man in a flash motor and drew a cynical conclusion, and he's accused the police of harassing him. An unfortunate coincidence, mischief-making by Essex-dwelling Hammers fans, or evidence of something more sinister? The player's lawyer, "Loophole Nick", will be angling for a one of the latter two.
