London 2012 Same Sex Hand Holding Relay Walk

London 2012 Open Weekend saw the first heat of an unlikely new discipline: the same-sex hand holding relay walk. The relay, which aimed to promote more visibility for same-sex couples and quietly fight homophobia, was part of the three-day celebration marking the countdown to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

In total, 12 couples of the same sex held hands along 11 different routes crisscrossing the capital. Brought together by A Day In Hand, a global campaign around same-sex hand holding (SSHH) by Schools Out, which is also behind LGBT History Month. They were pleased to report very few reactions at all from the public. Sshh, indeed!
