Waiting for Mr. Posty to drop off an important package? Best prepare a flask of tea, you may be thumb-twiddling a long while. The 24-hour postal strike which began this morning could have a knock-on effect and mean mail delays for up to seven days in parts of London. The CWU, who are striking over what they say are arbitrary dismissals and failure to complete promised modernisations, say that the backlog could take a week to clear, and that postal workers are still sorting through the jam created by a strike earlier in July. As always, a full service summary is available at the Royal Mail website. That predicted summer of strikes may have just taken another step forward.
