Nature-ist News Flash: Ducks Win the Lottery

2507.lea.jpg Well, ducks and a load of other wild types. The Lee Valley has been granted £379,000 of Heritage Lottery Funding. Wild Places Your Space is a new project run in partnership with the RSPB, designed to get East Londoners hugging their local trees and making friends with the wildlife in their hood. We reckon they've been reading our Nature-ist series, as that pretty much sounds like our mission too. Six London boroughs should benefit (on account of the River Lea being awfully long), and the work/education/call-it-what-you-will is to be centred on six areas: Myddelton House Gardens in Enfield, a nature reserve in Waltham Forest, Tottenham Marshes, Middlesex Filterbeds, Bow Creek Ecology Park, and East India Dock Basin. All good, except we wish we knew why it's the LEE valley, but the River LEA.... Make sense to you?(Image/peterphotographic)
