Lit Preview: London Liming At London Lit Fest

LONDON-LIMING-2009-TILT-EFLYER1-front.jpg Spoken word meets carnival to close the London Literature Festival on Thursday night. London Liming takes over Spirit Level at the Southbank Centre for a glorious feast of poets, MCs, vocalists, spoken word impresarios, DJs and illustrators.

Based on a Trinidadian cultural institution a London Liming is about partying, mashing up Caribbean carnival sensibilities with dance music and poetry readings. Thursday's event features Southbank Artist in Residence Lemn Sissay plus one of our favourite EARs, the superbly talented and lovely Ayanna Witter-Johnson alongside John Agard, Spaceape, Caroline Bird, Michael Horovitz, Daljit Nagra, Rinse, Nii Ayikwei Parkes and Deborah Stevenson. Chuck in live graffiti art and music by Charlie Dark and you've got one hip and happening Thursday with the lit crowd.

Tickets are just £8 from the Southbank Centre and the flow starts to flow at 8pm but there's a a free pre-show discussion and performance event at 6pm in the Level 5 Function Room.

For more information about London Literature Festival events this week, visit the Southbank Centre's website.
