Roving Chef

Recommending the Roving Chef is a piece of cake. In fact, we just finished having a piece of her moist and delicious pound cake before writing this review. Roving Chef is a one woman operation offering cookery classes “in your own home.” The one woman, Hayley Edwards, teaches “simple, uncomplicated and healthy (although sometimes a little wicked!) dishes that can be quickly prepared and are great to eat.” The long list of recipes on her site includes everything from the basics (chicken stock, fried egg sandwich, Caesar salad) to the more considerable (pumpkin and butternut squash soup with coconut and saffron, steamed chestnut and pork wontons, roast goose with potatoes).

Hayley rolled by Londonist HQ recently and really impressed us with her casual demeanour. She'd be a pleasure to have in your home. Her kitchen craft appears impeccable too (check the bio on her website). During her visit, she shared story after story of helping folks cook better. The cool thing is that, by teaching in her clients’ homes, she’s able to determine what they own, need to purchase and essentially how apt they’ll be when left alone to their own utensils.

Whether you’re an inept yet hopeful bachelor just trying to feed yourself; a skilled chef keen for another take and to brush up on your technique; or you’re simply looking for a fun and different way to entertain (did someone say hen nights?), consider having Hayley rove her way over to yours.
