We're not quite sure where to start with this one. Anvil are a barely-successful metal band who - outside their small but obsessional fanbase - nobody's ever heard of. At least they hadn't until the film Anvil! The Story Of Anvil came out earlier this year.

Widely praised, the movie is a sort of real-life equivalent to spoof rockumentary This Is Spinal Tap. In fact, at times the antics of the spoof band seem more believable than those of the real one. Maybe that explains why Anvil have never enjoyed widespread recognition, despite plugging away for more than 30 years.Anyway, they're paying a visit to Camden next week so you can judge the quality of their music for yourself. Just get down to The Underworld on Thursday for what could be an interesting evening. It'll be worth a look if you've seen the film and want to find out first-hand what the band are like. And if you're off to see Spinal Tap play Wembley Arena at the end of the month, perhaps you could compare the two and see which group is more convincing live. It could be a close call.Tickets to see Anvil are £15 and available now.
