Dance Preview: Open2Dance In Camden & Islington

Broardwalk Ballroom

Camden and Islington are joining forces getting in the swing of things for the Olympic Open Weekend. July sees a veritable smorgasbord of dancing delights hit the boroughs with everything from ballet to wheelchair ballroom, from same sex latin dance to outdoor dancercising, clogs, hip hop, be-bop, merry morris men and tea dancing. There are loads of opportunities to watch, learn and shake your sexy thang in the voluminous listings. How about:

  • Learning ballroom basics on the Boardwalk in Regents Park, July 11th
  • Find your Hip-Hop-being with dance classes in Kilburn, July 16th
  • Be entertained by a true cocktail mix of dance spanning continents and ages: Company of Elders line up alongside be-bop, samba and Bollywood.
  • Try out the new outdoor gyms at Lismore Circus, NW5 and be inspired by a specially created performance demonstrating their use: Transformations on Saturday 25th July.
  • We know you want to Morris Dance. Get along to Whitestone Pond, NW3 on Sunday 26th July and slip into some white pyjamas to hop along with everybody else. Also: donkey rides.
  • Open2Dance runs throughout July 2009.
