In Defence Of Crossrail

Coming soon...
Writing in his Evening Standard column last week, Simon Jenkins pulled out another rent-a-rant broadside against Crossrail, a project he's spent years lambasting and one he'll still be tutting about as the trains pull into Isle of Dogs station for the first time. While most readers ignore his increasingly bilious barbs, transport blog London Reconnnections stepped into the fray and fought back with an expertly argued, three-part riposte that stomps mudholes all through Jenkins' ropey reasoning. It's an excellent reminder of just how difficult large-scale transport projects are to get built, and a thoughtful sift through the many issues surrounding Crossrail's development from concept to reality.
