Londonist has always been a bit suspicious of talking street furniture, although these cuddly bins were quite fun. But trees are different: hey we've been talking to them for years. And when the sounds they produce are tunefully assembled by Martyn Ware (as in The Human League, as in Heaven 17)...then hey, we'll listen. SoundLife is described as a 3D sound installation. What's really exciting is that it is made out of you and I and all the other bits that make up London - its beeps and boops and chimes and clamours, from Big Ben to little Ben the market trader's lad. The 'show' is due to be strung up all round Leicester Square from 4th-14th June, and there'll be an accompanying exhibition at Westminster reference library. (Image/Matt From London)
