(P)review: Monster Inked at Idea Generation Gallery

Monsters Inked

Opening today at Idea Generation Gallery is Monsters Inked: Inside the Minds of the Gods of Monsters, featuring buckets full of fun-omenal works by Pete Fowler (wow!), Rob Steen (illustrator of Ricky Gervais’s Flanimals) and Central Illustration Agency artists Andrew Bannecker, Dave Needham, Mick Brownfield, Mick Marston, Martin Haake, Jonas, Bergstrand, Ray Smith, Nishant Chokski and Tristan Eaton/Thunderdog Studios. Killer stuff to be sure and a delightful opportunity for kids of all ages to check out some vibrant, cheeky and (above all) incredibly well executed art.

Over the past year or so, we’ve been enamoured with the exhibitions on show at the Idea Generation Gallery: last year’s Iraq War photojournalism exhibition was incredibly moving, and the study of red hair photography show earlier this year really wowed us. This latest offering - which unveils “brand new and extraordinary monster illustrations” and explores “the development of monsters drawings from the deepest depths of an artist’s imagination, on to the sketchpad and finishing on the gallery wall” - is of similar calibre and is well worth your time to check out.

Monsters Inked runs until the 19th of April. Opening times for the exhibition are Monday - Friday 10am to 6pm, Saturday and Sunday noon to 5pm. Idea Generation Gallery is located at 11 Chance St, E2 7JB.
