Ian Tomlinson Died From Abdominal Haemorrhage

tomlinson_memorial.jpg It's been confirmed this afternoon that Ian Tomlinson did not die of a heart attack but of an abdominal haemorrhage. A second post-mortem was ordered by the IPCC and "a substantial amount of blood in the abdominal cavity" found. What caused the haemorrhage is still being investigated, and the IPCC have confirmed that the officer who assaulted Tomlinson during the G20 protests has been interviewed for manslaughter. Both post-mortem conclusions are still provisional but the view of the second coroner is bound to raise huge questions about the quality of the first. Any doctors out there who can tell us whether the two proffered causes of death are easily confused? (Image / paulissima)
