Cheaper lunch menus are being offered by many London restaurants who are hoping to draw back in the punters affected by the credit crunch. There's nothing Londonist likes more than a good deal during these hard times, though we'll be honest, we at the Londonist weren't exactly rolling in it before the recession. Casa Brindisa, the latest of the Brindisa restaurants, is one of those offering an affordable set lunch (£12.50) in addition to their usual tapas menu. For this sum, three courses are chosen from a small but tempting selection. That day, Londonist chose escalibada (grilled vegetables) with anchovies to start, a pork chop with broccoli for seconds, and finally, a homemade flan to finish. It's not novel food but everything was delicious and well cooked and no one batted an eyelid when we ordered tap water to keep costs down. We shall return.
