Hacks for Hackney

As Iain Sinclair laments the demise of traditional East End spots and the 2012 steam-rollers press on, news comes to us today of what’s in it for Hackney. It would seem that to Hackney Wick the Olympics bequeath…a press centre. Now whilst we think Sinclair is being more than a tad unreasonable in his tub thumping, the irony of installing one of the major networks (ITV, ‘tis rumoured) to document the changes in the area is acute.

However, on an undeniably positive note, the plans also comprise the construction of 2070 homes and of course the erection of the main sports arena. AND the creation of 10,000 jobs. (Jobs are good - but if all 10,000 of them are in the Meedja, God help the ‘Rose-Red Empire.’)

Generally this legacy business is going swimmingly. But if you disagree, like you don’t want to see Hackney awash with media types, you can comment here.
