Olympians Get Special Road Treatment

To avoid athletes missing events because they're stuck in the Blackwall Tunnel, the ODA have unveiled plans for a designated road network. Certain lanes will be dedicated to Olympic traffic so 55,000 competitors and officials can move around quickly. We think it's a good idea (though not sure about the Soviet connotations). Congestion is inevitable during the Games, but can you imagine the chaos if the extra traffic fights it out with the rest of us? The scheme is up for consultation until 19 March 2009.
