He's been pegged as THE one to watch, the man who has come to put an end to emo and ressurect indie from the depths of ennui. We don't know about all that, but Jay Reatard writes some killer tunes. You've got two chances to catch Jay and his half-jangled-half-frazzled brand of new wavey punk this week in London. He takes the stage at Old Blue Last in Shoreditch tonight with Thee Vicars and the Lexington on Wednesday (the Lexington was called Sazerac a couple of months ago and Clockwork before that — it's on Pentonville Road and currently has no website).
If you fancy trekking out to Kingston on Thursday, you've got another chance to see Jay. He plays McCluskys as part of New Slang with Jay Jay Pisolet (over-18s only), and is also playing an earlier set exclusively for under-18s at Banquet Records.
Definitely worth checking out the voluminously-haired American boy while he's in the UK and still playing club spaces.
