A giant inflatable rugby ball has appeared in Potters Fields Park near Tower Bridge. It was opened today by Boris and the New Zealand Prime Minister John Key. Boris was greeted by a traditional Haka performance and was presented with a Maori pendant to commemorate the occasion before entering the Ball.

Inside the Ball, an impressive audio visual covers the entire ceiling and walls of the Ball and takes you on a voyage through New Zealand. It is free to the public and the aim is to showcase New Zealand in the lead up to the 2011 Rugby World Cup where New Zealand is the host nation. If you ever fancied a trip to New Zealand, perhaps in 2011 or you are a Kiwi expat yearning for home then it is definitely worth a look.

The Giant Rugby Ball is open to the public from November 26th to December 2nd from 11am each day. The 2011 Rugby World Cup draw will take place inside the ball on December 1.
