Comedy Gig: Russell Brand, Islington, 13th and 14th October.

We recently discovered this new comedian called Russell Brand. Not many people have heard of him, but we think he might just be the next big thing!

If you fancy being as zeitgeisty as us, you can see him live next week - but forget about those big venues that seat you so far away from the performer that you might as well be watching a DVD. Instead, you can see him knocking about some new material at the intimate Pleasance Islington, a lovely little theatre with a few hundred seats and a lovely atmosphere. We've seen him there a few times, and it's always something special. He rarely gets around to actually trying his material, and instead spends his time chatting with the audience, ad-libbing, bouncing around, and telling jokes that he could never get away with on a DVD.

Tickets will definitely sell out quickly, so if you want to go, you should book them now. And while you're there, you should treat yourself to some tickets for top sketch group Idiots of Ants at the end of the month. Check them out on YouTube, fall in love with their work, and then see them live. Do it!

Russell will be playing at Pleasance Islington, North Road, N7 9EF, Monday 13th 8pm and Tuesday 14th at 9.15pm. Call 020 7609 1800 for prices and availability. Nearest tube: Caledonian Road.
