Weekend Round-Up

Here’s what we’ve learned whilst you’ve been putting your Summer wardrobe back in mothballs:

  • Those clever boffs at UCL have developed an on-line surname toy: trouble is it is so popular that it seems to be permanently fazed.
  • Ken has defended Sir Ian Blair against claims of racism.
  • Anyone wanna buy a Buddhist temple in Upper Norwood?
  • The last lady veteran of WW1, who was originally from Lewisham, has died aged 109.
  • A 15 year old moped rider has died following a police pursuit in South London.
  • And another teen has been stabbed to death in Hackney.
  • A prolific thief who operated on trains out of London and was caught with £280 clenched in his buttocks has been banned from coming within the M25. A BBC comedy bigwig, Geoffrey Perkins, was killed in an accident in Marylebone on Friday.

    And here’s what we think we’ll have learned by this time next week:

  • That we are in fact facing the worst recession for 2,000 years;
  • That Boris’ next spiffing jape is to rehabilitate the words pish, frock, omnibus and perambulator for common parlance.
  • That ensh’Allah Ramadan will have started (a fact never taken for granted and depending on the sighting of the new moon).
  • Heathrow from Simon Crubellier’s Londonist flickr stream.
