Every day this month the Londonist team will be pointing you in the direction of a Christmas present that (with a bit of luck) you won't already have on your list. Climb up onto our collective lap and we'll see what we can move from our sack to your stockings...

Make Lounge is one of those ideas that is so great, you'll wish you thought of it yourself. When journalist and Make Lounge founder Jennifer Pirtle wanted to do something creative after work, the courses she looked up were usually very expensive and lasted several weeks, requiring commitment that she and many others like herself couldn't give. Also, like most Londoners, there wasn't much room for all the equipment and materials to pursue creative craftwork at home. So, Make Lounge was created: a series of one-off workshops for contemporary crafts, with an emphasis on socialising, learning skills, recycling materials and giving people the satisfaction of taking home something they made.

If a workshop with Make Lounge sounds like the ideal gift for someone you know, you'll be pleased to hear that gift vouchers are available here. All workshops are based in arty Angel, each with a skilled instructor and all materials provided.

There is a full calendar of workshops to attend - and the beauty of a Make Lounge voucher is that the vouchers never expire so even if the recipient of your gift puts off going until this time next year, they can still turn up and take part. You may even get a Christmas card and cunning stocking filler made in a Make Lounge workshop... now that's an idea...
