Get Jazzy in Kilburn

If you're in the mood for a bit of jazz, then as mentioned earlier in the week, Mercury nominees Basquiat Strings will be playing a small gig tonight at Kilburn's Luminaire as part of a dsp-bip night. There were rave reviews all round for their recent electric proms gig (photos above!) so even if you're not a jazz fan, this is one band it's worth taking a listen to.

Led by celloist Ben Davis, the London based five piece play a beatsy string jazz with tinges of Ornette Coleman, eastern European gypsy music, and Brahms. They'll be supported by North Londoner The Matthew Rozeik Ensemble who we're told "build emotronic tone poems of scratchy beats, strings, saw, and circuit board solder." And Vincent Oliver will also be on hand in the support slot.

Tickets for this eclectic evening are still on sale and cost £6 online or £7 on the door.
