With the sun barely deigning to grace us with its presence this summer, the only refuge of those wishing to break a sweat is the club (or the gym or the tube, but two those places are each as unpleasant as the other). To ensure that we get the maximum possible perspiration per pound, Vice Magazine's Club Do It! and 7 Year Glitch have imported Detroit's master of ghettotech, DJ Assault to headline their party this Saturday night at Corsica Studios.

Appearing alongside Assault will be a host of local and faraway grime, hip-hop and dubstep talents. East Coast US producer and DJ Starkey, Bow's Ruff Sqwad and Vice's own Prancehall are among the highlights that will keep Corsica Studios' two rooms bumpin' till dawn.

Known to his mum as Craig Diamonds, Assault describes his club appearances by saying, "When I play a gig, I'll play anything — from bass to techno to jungle to hip-hop to house, but as a producer, I call the music I make Accelerated Funk." Whether you call it ghettotech or accelerated funk makes no difference so long as you know how to shake what yo mama gave you when these beats hit the dance floor. Massively popular in the Motor City, these hyperactive rhythms are often sadly lacking in London, so be sure to tear the club up on this weekend's rare opportunity.

Club Do It! featuring DJ Assault, £7(£5 concessions), Saturday 21 July 2007, 11 p.m. - 5:00 a.m. at Corsica Studios, 5 Elephant Road, London, SE17 1LB. Advance tickets available here.
