The first proper weekend of the festival season is upon us, with many people jetting off to Download or Isle of Wight. However, for those of you stuck in the city this weekend, there are still lots of musical events you can feast your ears on for now.

First up, George Michael plays Wembley on Saturday and Sunday. The camp Greek star is set to be the first artist to play Wembley, and doesn’t have support acts other than the DJ. There are still some seats and standing room available for those of you who can stomach paying between £50 and £100 a ticket for the show.If you like to be at the cutting edge of music, then this weekend’s Galvanised Festival is for you. Taking place at The Space Studios, it features three days of experimental music, performance art. As they say themselves: “a melting pot of collaboration, where jazz instrumentalists meet shoegaze noise kids and rock gods meet classically trained soloists!” Tickets are £6 per night, and are available from Ticketweb. If middle of the road pop is more your sort of thing, Darren Hayes plays Soho Revue Bar on Saturday night (remember him? He was in Savage Garden). Its sold out online, but there may be a few tickets from the box office or on scarlet mist.Sunday sees Stokefest take place at Clissold Park in Hackney, with a wide range of DJs, Jazz and world music bought together in one park for a truly memorable afternoon. Workshops for those who want to get involved, local businesses displaying their products, and more music than you can shake a stick at, what better way to spend you Sunday afternoon? And the best thing is that it’s completely free!Photo of George is taken from gisele13's flickr stream.
