Student Showcases – let’s face it, they’re normally reasonably boring. However, this Friday sees a student showcase with a difference as the Westminster Centre for Commercial Music (WCCM) launches with a star-studded showcase at Brick Lane's 93 Feet East.

WCCM can lay claim to numerous famous faculty and previous students, with the Infadels, The Feeling, and Pure Reason Revolution all having attended, along with one off lectures from the likes of Russell Simmons, Pete Waterman, Dave Gilmour, Guy Chambers and Dave Stewart. West Fest '07 offers a fantastic bill of respected UK artists, including legendary UK grime collective Boy Better Know (inc. JME, Skepta & Maximum) and a special guest appearance from Plan B. The evening kicks off in laid-back fashion, with a BBQ in the courtyard and acoustic sets and AV installations from students in the Pink Bar area. Meanwhile, an informal networking 'Swap Shop' will be held for recent graduates (who've gone on to work at a variety of companies including Universal and iTunes).West Fest 07 takes place this Friday 1st June at 93 Feet East from 5pm – 1am, and has free entry before 9:30 and is just £5 after 9:30 (or £3 with an NUS card)Photo taken from jennywooyay's photos
